Slack-jawed I was not when I learned of the thwarted terror attack against RAF Fairford.
Iran has overseen a campaign of missile and drone attacks against accessible US bases in the Gulf, but with Fairford nestled in the heart of rural Gloucestershire, targeting the base housing a menace of B1 bombers conducting daily sorties to the Middle East and the occasional sky-ripping thunderous launch of the Stratofortress would mean using proxies or cells on the ground in Britain.
With the IRGC already bragging how it has delivered terrorists into the UK already, with Iranian officials telling The Telegraph that they control smuggling networks between the Middle East and Europe, some extra 50 thousand odd (at least) Islamists on the terror watchlist and the useful hard left idiots of Palestine Action and ANTIFA also targeting bases, it was a matter of when, not if, a base like Fairford was in the crosshairs for attack. By which faction of Islamist funded terrorism is frankly irrelevant. Cancer is cancer. And we are riddled with it.
