Spain's Darkest Day may help Reform
Particularly in the West of England Mayoral race, where Arron Banks trails The Greens by mere points
And so it happened. Spain hit Net Zero! Zero emissions! Zero power!
Looking at the news headlines I am rather shocked - yet reassured - that the country avoided all out anarchy. Perhaps the calming effect of el sol español meant that many saw it as an opportunity to not be in the office or at school and hang out in a setting fit for a San Miguel advert instead.
You just know if this had been London, the beautiful British Blitz spirit that sired videos of tube passengers rapturously applauding marathon participants as they went past on escalators brandishing their medals would have descended into the windows of Foot Locker being kicked in. It's always Foot Locker.
Half the nation would have seen it as a fun opportunity to light candles and muddle along together, but pockets within inner cities would doubtless have read it as an opportunity to loot like a marauding gang of feral bonobos.
Spain somehow didn't seem to descend into apocalyptic end times however. And now power has almost been entirely restored to the grid.
But what even happened?
Apparently they are investigating the cause - but all reports point to the fact that Spain’s mad dash to Net Zero lead to the string of catastrophes that saw the entire nation’s grid collapse.
When it comes to the lighting of the blue touch paper however, they know. Of course they do. They just don't want to say.
Which means only one thing. It was also triggered by patching together an electricity network made up of technology which barely works causing the entire thing to collapse like a house of cards.
Just as the cruel floods that wiped away the homes of thousands of people across Valencia and Andalusia and claimed the lives of more than 230 people as Spain’s most deadly natural disaster came straight after the demolition of 256 dams to enable rivers to follow their ‘natural course’. Of course, this has been widely labeled a Far Right Conspiracy Theory (aren't all facts these days?) despite charts of rainfall showing no higher frequency of more extreme downpours, and if anything, a slight decline.
Just as when flights were all grounded at Heathrow due to a random fire that took out the main electrical substation was also definitely not the progeny of Net Zero as it was concealed that back up generators had been dumped for being diesel fuelled demons. We were bloody lucky planes didn't meet in the air that day.
Time and again European Net Zero zealousy is proving to be not just economic and industrial suicide, but potentially lethal, too.
And this is what voters in Bristol need to be told, where the heft of the Green vote will emanate on Thursday.
Ok, so a lot of the short-fringed placard waving, statue drowning Socialists are beyond redemption, but the quinoa munching luvvies of leafy Clifton need to have it spelled out to them that a Green Mayor might sound like something nice to celebrate over flat whites and babyccinos in Gail's, but when the lights go out, no amount of self righteousness will protect them from the ensuing crimewave spearheaded by the '2s' from St Pauls and St Judes and the '1-6' gang from Fishponds as they tear through suburbia under a blanket of black.
Because the Green Candidate wants the lot of it. Complete with requisite occasional funny coloured hair and rainbow flag emojis on X, Mary Page is a former Lib Dem who campaigned against there being a Mayor to the 2nd choice of the nutty climate nazis to run to be exactly that.
And on closer inspection, it seems the only real competence of the ‘WECA’ Mayor (or Wiccah Mayor perhaps if they elect Weird Mary) is to run the buses.
So how will that go down? Well Brighton have recently ditched their electric buses to return to diesel, implying that The Big Lemon bus company, unsurprisingly founded by a Green Councillor who is married to the once short term Brighton Mayor - my namesake Alex Phillips - may not have been turning lemons into lemonade. One thing is for sure though, these Leftists sure know how to make themselves a bob or two out of the ‘Climate Crisis’ - and all at your expense.
And it is exactly this reality that needs to be writ large where it especially matters - which is increasingly at local level where the tendering for such services takes place, to ensure council tax cash isn't captured by the Climate Crisis Cartel.
Let's see if Reform can make hay while the sun shines and the lights are out.
Never before has such a striking example of Net Zero madness been so perfectly timed.
It looks like Spain, France, Belgium and Portugal weren't the only ones affected. What do you think to the strange, undisclosed outage in Manchester today?

I doubt very much this was a Net Zero factor, more likely a cyber attack, I suspect China. The trade war with USA is panicking them and they, are exerting there power in Europe. I bet that both countries have Huawei kit in there systems infrastructure. A quick search quickly shows that I could be on to something...
Regarding the use of Huawei equipment in their infrastructure:
- Portugal has maintained a ban on Chinese 5G equipment, including Huawei, since May 2023 due to cybersecurity concerns. Major Portuguese telecom operators like Altice, NOS, and Vodafone have committed to not using Huawei technology in their 5G core networks and are in the process of removing existing Huawei equipment from their infrastructure[3][7][11].
- Spain does not have an official ban on Huawei; Telefónica Spain uses Huawei equipment in its 5G core network, indicating Huawei technology is part of Spain’s telecom infrastructure[9].
- Huawei has been involved in smart grid projects in Portugal, such as the deployment of smart electrical energy meters using Huawei’s 4.5G NB-IoT technology, but this is distinct from the core power grid infrastructure[4].
In summary, while Huawei technology is present in some telecom and smart grid applications, neither Spain nor Portugal’s power outage has been linked to Huawei equipment. Portugal officially bans Huawei in critical 5G infrastructure, whereas Spain continues to use Huawei technology in telecom networks[3][7][9].
