It is not only a bastardisation of moral teaching, but an obsfucation.
This strange Godless moral one-upmanship fails to recognize the heart of the true Christian teaching upon which it is unknowingly based.
We are sinners. Or else there would be no need for the crucifixion.
They have been raised, these Westernised idols, on a crudely refined version of The New Covenant that has replaced nuance, contemplation and prayer with shoddy, manufactured value systems which actively blockade true belief. True compassion. True teleological contemplation.
Centuries are whittling down the bounteous message of Judeao-Christianism to a toothpick. Into a performative moral handbag that is desirable to flash, but is as empty as its true value. For what possessions can be held in a designed vessel, made to signify worthiness, that a Bag For Life couldn’t itself contain?
In The Bible we are warned of performative morality. In many respects, it is the central message.
Matthew 6:1 – "Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."
Matthew 23:25 – "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence."
And perhaps most stringently
Luke 16:15 – "He said to them, 'You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.'"
Gazaism is exactly that.

The latest in the queue of celebrities who deign to shower themselves in moral rectitude, not for goodness’ sake, but their own.
Matters they know little of. Repercussions that will never impact their lives. Complexities they are too lazy in their pursuit of performative goodness to bother to traverse.
Trans rights. Racism. Synthetically performed Socialist ideology.
An entire goody bag of pins, flags, emojis, empty statements and mawkishly acted out sentimentality and conviction that would fracture like a brittle toffee under the pressure of reality but brings advertising deals and acting roles
Quite fitting, for an act it truly is.
For all the sugar and structure that their titration of sweetness and unctuousness they would wish we recognised may be, a casual interaction with reality fragments it into worthless shards of confected - confectionary.
For a long time I have struggled with this celebrity fascination with ‘causes’ - until I read the Gospels.
Was Jesus not murdered by the jealous Sanhedrin - who felt their power and control over the masses was at stake through the teachings of a peripatetic Rabbi? And the lustful crowds that followed their instruction for fear of ostracisation and rejection from their fixed communities? And a political power structure all too willing to play along with the narrative for their own ‘democratic’ survival? The Romans who recognised that playing the [voting] bloc was their best hope of autocratic survival?
Here we are in 2026.
Sanctioning Israel performatively for votes.
Watching women abused, beaten in physical sports, undignified through erasure, while other women beat the drum for that very occurance?
Are we not witnessing in our age the very warning that has echoed through the ages in scripture of the profanity of false moral rectitude used as a tool for self-aggrandizement and advancement - callously resulting in the persecution and ostracisation of others? The immoral rat race of the very perversion of morality.

I'm not a religious person but I have often thought of that GK Chesterton saying : "When people stop believing in God, they don’t believe in nothing — they believe in anything”. I think these new 'progressives' perversely prove a human need for religion by following an "alternative universe' form of Christianity while despising the real thing. Ideology is their religion and they spout the progressively translated good, kindly bits of the bible while often being nasty little buggers in reality. 'Be kind' (but, psst everyone, email his employer and get him sacked).' "Treat everyone fairly, with equity: (even if it's clear others are severely harmed by our naivety)...but not if they disagree with us.
When all basic needs of food, warmth clothing etc are fully satisfied, then luxury beliefs can be afforded. This is what we're seeing.
